This was my weekend. I spent my time on the couch watching my eyelids and The Emmys. Apparently I contracted Bronchitis, with possible sinusitis, from the little petri dishes at school who have been coughing all over me for the last month. I vacillated from a low grade 99.3 fever to a steamy 102.9. I finally had enough Saturday night and went to our friendly neighborhood Wal-Mart where they have an Urgent Care Clinic, taking all major insurance companies, that was still open at 6 pm. After my pleasant chat with the Nurse Practitioner I found myself with three fun-looking prescriptions: Hydrocodone cough syrup, Azithromycin, and an Albuterol Sulfate inhaler. Unfortunately the pharmacies in Brighton are not open so late on the weekends. Jack went to Northglenn, you guessed it-about half an hour away, to find a 24-hour Walgreen's. He had an hour wait once he got there, poor guy. Luckily he brought some articles to read for his graduate school classes. I am so grateful that he was around this weekend because I was feeling pretty rotten myself. By Sunday night I was feeling much better. I actually went in to school today and felt pretty good for most of the day. My fever started to return this afternoon, but I got it down again fairly soon. I did have a good time watching the Emmys, though. It's my not-so-secret weakness to watch award shows. I have always loved the red carpet thing. I don't know why, I just do. If any of you saw the Emmys last night, we can dish. Again, I'm really glad that Jack was around. He was/is my HERO!Monday, September 17, 2007

I missed the Emmys -- I had an out-of-town guest to entertain. But Airan shares your love of the awards shows, so I'm sure he's sad to have missed it.
Glad to hear you're feeling better! Good work, Jack!
Glad to hear you are better. Don't push it that is how I bought pneumonia.
Didn't watch the Emmys. Was at your mother's. Take care!
Don't you love husband's!
Right now, mine won't let me twitch when he's around. I almost complained to him this morning because I had to take my own shower and do my hair and make-up all by myself. Ah well . . . it sure is nice to know that someone cares enough about you to make sacrifices.
As for the Emmys, sorry, not my bag.
I heard Sally Fields' rant, the one FOX cut, on other news shows, but I think her explanation was a cop-out, as was FOX's.
Sally Field wasn't bad. She was censored about as much as Ray Romano was for commenting that Kelsey Grammer was f*****g his wife, Patricia Heaton, in the their new sitcom "Back to You". I mostly looked at the dresses, hair and shoes. The awards were amusing at times because of the politics. I wasn't at all suprised that Fox decided to censor Sally Field's comments because they were becoming anti-Bush and anti-war. Hey, it's Fox after all.
I love award shows! So much so that (before kids) I would start watching the red carpet preshows hours before. Let's see - Katherine Hiegl was gorgeous...Brothers & Sisters didn't receive nearly as many nominations or awards as it should have...Helen Mieran (sp?) - does she win on every award show lately or what - I hope I look that good at her age...not a fan of the round center stage...and Ryan Seacrest was most certainly a B list choice for host.
So now we need an update.
How are you feeling?
WD: I'm feeling better. I actually slept 6 hours in a row last night. I am finished with the antibiotic and the Tylenol/Advil/Aspirin. I have no fever any more. I have a really nasty gurgle/hack that tends to sound like a door creaking when I am trying to sleep. Blech. Otherwise I seem to be up to my old tricks. I have to get my house cleaned before this weekend so my friends here don't catch it.
Amy: Katherine Hiegl did look amazing. Her makeup was understated to emphasize her red lipstick. I was happy that she wore that beautiful white gown. What did you think of Jennifer Morrison? Her gown was beaded and white, I think. What do you think of Eva Longoria's gown?
Helen Mieran (sp?) seems to be wearing the same gown as well as winning awards all over the place. They could be tied together.
Awards shows "in the round" do not work, obviously. The poor people in the back didn't get to see anything the whole night because they really didn't do it "in the round." They turned the people in back into the background. Those poor folks.
Ryan Seacrest really did not do that well as a host. He certainly did what he was hired to do-be himself. I think it was a poor choice to have him. The Emmys are supposed to be a little "lighter" but the show still has to be entertaining. Did you catch him running back to the dressing room after he came out in that Elizabethan costume? He thought the camera wasn't on him any more. Yah. Poor choice there.
