Iron Chef

Iron Chef makes me laugh. I was a huge fan of the original Japanese Iron Chef and now I love the American version as well. I once had fun watching the original Japanese Iron Chef with a Japanese guy. He didn't have the weak stomach that I have. I think it was Battle Squid or some other ocean gem. He thought everything looked so good. I could never eat some of the things they come up with. Tonight is a rerun of "Battle Ground Beef." Pizzas, Hamburgers, Tamales, Steak Tartar and meatcicles (blech) are on the menu. How gross! But I just can't look away.

I love Iron Chef, but I don't think I could most of what they cook. Sea urchin? No thanks.

The Japanese Iron Chef is hilarious, but my favorite of Iron Chef America is Alton Brown, my heartthrob.

They have way too many whole fish, and you both know my thing about fish.
So I can't watch it at all.
I assume it's like professional "wrestling" for chefs.
If that's the case, than it should be a lot of fun.
(No, I don't watch wrestling, but I've heard some of the wrestlers interviewed on NPR, and they sound like neat people. Obviously good actors and great stunt performers.)

It's the people who take professional wrestling seriously that I worry about, and sadly, there are some of those people in our family. Don't worry, Heather, they're not on the Logsdon side.

I can see the comparison between Iron Chef and wrestling. I think the judges have to be the actors and stuntpeople because they have to eat that stuff.

Love Iron Chef. Would not be able to eat 3/4 of what they cook. My favorite Maro Batel. Love Alton Brown and also watch his show a lot.

I was a little disappointed in Alton during the Next Food Network Star show. He wasn't very nice to people. I know that he didn't have to be nice to them, but I wanted him to be nice and generous to the contestants.

I have to disagree with you -- I thought Alton was great on The Next Food Network Star. He told it like it is. Having your own TV show has got to be a lot harder than we can imagine, and the network exec will be much harder on them then Alton ever was. If they can't survive Alton, they can't handle their own show.

(See? Nothing dims my love for Mr. Brown.)
